CHAPTER 6 It was late afternoon before we were back home. We stopped by the store, both to check out how things had gone in our absence and to see the progress on our new building. It was amazing how quickly the construction had progressed. Once the footings and concrete floor had been poured it was only a matter of weeks before the concrete block walls were up. The architect had suggested several cost-cutting and time saving steps, including using standard in-stock steel roof joists. Already, the floor was done and the walls almost half-way up. The plan was to open the new building in time for Black Friday, but I knew that there were always delays in construction due to weather or late deliveries.
